Juneteenth BBQ Celebration and Historical Marker Dedication Ceremony

This Juneteenth, join us for the unveiling of the first historical marker in Montopolis at the Burditt Prairie Cemetery, the oldest African American cemetery in Austin. Learn about the importance of one of Austin’s oldest Freedom Colonies from community members as well as historical archaeologist Dr. Fred L. McGhee, author of the book Austin’s Montopolis Neighborhood. The dedication ceremony will be followed by a block party and BBQ. All are welcome.
